DRESS CODE LETTER
To Bishop Luers’ parent(s) and/or guardian(s):
Some of the most memorable experiences high schoolers will have will be at their school dances. Here at Bishop Luers, we have two major dances for our students to attend, the Christmas Formal and the Prom. When students attend a school-sponsored dance, they are representatives of Bishop Luers High School, a Catholic institution. As such, the following guidelines are in place for our dances.
Dress-code
Over the years, societal standards for appropriate dress for both boys and girls have shifted. As parents and guardians, you may decide that an outfit is appropriate for your son or daughter to wear, but the administration, moderators of the dance, and chaplains have the final say as to whether the dress of your student adheres to BLHS standards. Students who do not adhere to the dress code stated below will not be allowed into the dance. Tickets will not be refunded.
Ladies:
For both Christmas Formal and Prom, all dresses must be floor length.
High-low dress styles are permitted but must not go past the knee.
Slits must not extend above the knee.
Dresses may not be see-through.
No bare midriffs.
Dresses may not be strapless.
“Body-conscious” dresses are not permitted.
Gentlemen:
Shorts are not permitted.
Shirts are to be buttoned up.
Pants should be fitted but not excessively tight.
Tie must be worn with their attire.
Dress and/or accessories may not advertise alcohol, tobacco products, drugs, or gang activity.
Shoes must be worn by all students.
Outside and Underclassmen Dates
Additionally, students may not bring dates from other schools or Bishop Luers alumni to the Christmas Formal. Junior and senior students may bring outside dates to Prom only. Finally, Prom will be limited to junior and senior students only as it is a developmental milestone reserved for those grades.
Entrances and Exits from Dances
No students will be admitted into the dance after 1 hour has transpired from the event start time. Students will not be permitted to leave the dance more than 1 hour before the end of the dance without parental consent. Any student leaving the dance for any reason must sign out regardless of parental consent.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we encourage our students to be “lights of the world”.
Respectfully,
Scott Kreiger - Principal
Greggory Smith-Causey - Dean of Students
Pat Shifley - Chaperone
Christine Goodin - Chaperone
