Canvas Resources
Canvas Observer (Parent) Account
Canvas is the LMS (Learning Management System) used by the Diocese of Fort Wayne South Bend. This LMS allows teachers to create digital curriculum for students to access while at school or off-site. Your student will use Canvas for e-Learning days, to download files, take quizzes, access vital links, view videos, and more!
In Canvas, the observer (parent) role can be used to enroll parents who would like to monitor their child in a Canvas course. Observers have limited permissions that allow them to see what is going on in a course without interrupting the flow of daily course communication. Like students, observers cannot view a course until it is published and the course has started.
Observers are bound to the same prerequisites, requirements, lock dates, etc. as the student they are observing.

E-Learning Due To Weather Related Closure
Student assignments will be posted by 9:00 AM on the actual Snow Day. The assignments will be listed within a labeled module. Students will have 2 days to complete the assignments. Student Assignments given on a Monday must be submitted Wednesday of that same week at 7:45 AM. If a student does not complete the assignment, they are considered absent for that period. The absence is recorded in their PowerSchool attendance. It is considered unexcused and treated as such.
Important Information
In compliance with the Diocesan Internet Usage Policy, the Diocese requires our staff to copy parents on all emails sent directly to their children. A very important step in the E-Learning program is setting up the parent's account in the Canvas program. Once your child has set-up his/her account, the parent will receive an email invitation to create an account with Canvas. Parents must respond to this email. Upon acceptance, you will need to create an account. You will need your child's username and password to complete this step. Please get this information from your child. This acceptance will allow the instructor to contact your child via email and will provide the parent/guardian with a copy of all communications. Detailed and step-by-step instructions to complete registration are below.
